The Color Contrast Effect: Yarn & Abstract Art

Chiharu Shiota's Two Home Countries exhibit at the Asian Art museum was made almost entirely of red yarn and letters, creating reflective, evocative beauty and stories that last forever.

The intricate, abstract details from top to bottom inspired me to create my own art. I manipulated the images I took from the exhibit to create this contrasting colored-collection.

Vibrant Architecture in Reykjavik's City Center Collage

A blend of contrast in Reykjavik's city center with modern and sleek architecture mixed with simple, Scandinavian designs.

The use of solid primary and secondary colors brighten the neighborhood (and ones' day) during winter's everchanging weather patterns.

An Ode to San Francisco Collage

All the sights and delights wrapped into one whole piece.

I captured a range of images of the famous city, from its cable cars to the ferry building to stand-out architectural designs and other outdoor spaces at night...

...and decided to compile it together into a nice, dark, moody collage with a mix of color-blocked designs, raindrop effects, and various textures to showcase the foggy city in a different light.

Hilton Hotel's Lights and Interior Decor Collage

So many different types of light fixtures with unique designs across every room at the Hilton Hotel. I loved the moody lighting of these rooms; they're not too bright yet not too dim. I combined a mix of my favorites and added some of my favorite views from the highest floor, the Cityscape Lounge.

Roamed around Walnut Creek's Broadway Plaza and was immediately enamored by the small town vibe. Small shops, spring trees, fun architecture and parks surround the downtown shopping area.

San Diego Zoo's Adorable Pandas Collage

San Diego Zoo Part II: 40 minutes of watching pandas? Well worth it. From eating bamboo to taking an afternoon nap, every move, no matter how small, was entertaining. We couldn't get enough of these pandas and only stepped away when the crowds started to appear.

Jack Early Park Color Blocked Collage

A cute neighborhood park calls for a fun collage! After exploring this small park in the Telegraph Hill area, I decided to compile all the pictures into a collage and add a color-blocked theme for it. I wanted a fog effect so I grayed out the background and included some noise to polish it out.

Serene + Calming Nature: Lafayette Park Collage

I loved how tranquil this park is, the spectacular views it offers of nearby mansions, the Twin Peaks mountains and the breathtaking blue sky. I added light pastel touches of pink and blue to this collage to further magnify the peaceful scene.

Fabulous Las Vegas, Nevada Collage

Las Vegas is always over the top in every way with exaggerated buildings, decorations, lights, and decor, so why not combine all the adventures into one large collage, postcard style? After putting all these images together, I added in various blurred pastel colors in the background for a dreamy-cool feel.

The Halcyon Days of Mission Bay Collage

Mission Bay is a thriving neighborhood and quickly becoming one of my favorite spots. After capturing all these calming, blue scenic images, I decided to compile everything into a collage. Adding seashells, faded circles in pastel tones, and ocean hues in the background transports us back to those carefree summer days.

Dazzling Golden Silver Chandelier Lights Collage

As always, Westin St Francis hotel has the most elaborate chandeliers ever. You can see different versions of them gleaming from the lobby and the dozens of meeting rooms. I decided to compile these in a collage (along with other details like the ornate stairs and escalator) and add a slight grey overlay to the cloned chandeliers in the background.

One of the coolest rooms ever with splendid lights in green, blue, and purple shades and abstract designs all over the walls. I decided to have a little bit of fun with this and clone multiple versions to create a enticing collage that leaves everything to the imagination.

Architectural Sculptures and Rooftop Gardens Collage

One of the best rooftop gardens in the neighborhood with unique, distinctive architectural sculptures and skyscraper views all around the vicinity.

After compiling the photos together, I blurred out the background's grey and light blue hues to make the main images take center stage.

Rediscover the Past: Colorful Chinatown Collage

Sometimes we stroll around the same familiar streets every day and never bother glimpsing up at the beautiful adornments and historic buildings...until one day we look up and really focus on our colorful surroundings and ponder about the past, the history behind the architecture, and the people who brought the area to life. These thoughts came to mind when I went on one of the tours of Chinatown, relearning about the fascinating neighborhood. I decided to put these new discoveries and historic landmarks all together into a collage.
